My 5 star predictions

Some books that I predict will be five stars reads, including Circe by Madeline Miller and Lovely War by Julie Berry.

Hi lovely reader! In this blog post I will be talking about 10 books that are on my TBR that I think will be 5 star reads for me. Why I think these books will be 5 star reads for me is different for each book so I’ve listed my reasons next to the book. If you’re curious what the book is about or you want to add it to your TBR as well, you can click on the title and then you’ll be directed to the book on Goodreads.

But now let’s get into my ten five star predictions!

1. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
A Darker Shade of Magic is the only one of Schwab’s popular series that I haven’t read yet and since I loved all of her other series and really consider Schwab as one of my favourite authors, I really think this is going to be a 5 star read. Especially since this book seems to be quite some people’s favourite series. I’m just afraid I won’t love this series as much as everyone esle, even though it sounds like something I would love. Honestly I should just get over myself and read it. It’s also getting a bit ridiculous that I haven’t read this yet, considering that even my boyfriend has read it and he reads like a book a year.

2. One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Taylor Jenkins Reid is my favourite adult contemporary author and this is the only one of her books that I haven’t read yet, simply because the audiobook isn’t on Scribd. I’ve listened to all of her other books on audiobook and loved all of them. Scribd does have the e-book so I could just pick it up but I’m still a procrastinator… I think this will be a five star read because all of Reid’s other books were 5 star reads for me, except for Daisy Jones & The Six which I gave 3.5 stars and Forever Interrupted which I gave 4.5 stars. So I think this book will definitely be at least a 4.5 star read, considering that the only book I didn’t give that high of rating had a completely different type of plot and writing style.

3. A Torch Against The Night by Sabaa Tahir
An Ember in the Ashes was one of my favourite books of the entire year of 2019, I just love this world and these characters. So I’m quite certain that I’ll love this book as well. However, I am worried about the third book, A Reaper at the Gates, though. A lot of people seem to not love that book as much as the rest of the series and that is making me hestitant to pick up this book, but I should just do it because I’m quite sure I’ll love it.

4. Circe by Madeline Miller
I honestly am not sure what it is about this book that makes me convinced that this will be a five star read for me. Everyone just seems to love it, so I’ll have to love it as well, right? I’m just really intrigued by this book because of the hype around it and because it’s a Greek myth retelling, which I’ve never actually read before, even though I have multiple of those books on my TBR. But out of all of those Greek myth retellings on my TBR I think, for some unknown reason, that this will be my favourite.

5. Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik
Fantasy is my favourite genre, and I especially love fantasy standalones. And this book fits that category. But that’s not the only reaso I think I’ll love this book. I also think I’ll love this because of the synopsis, it just sounds so good! Next to that I’ve also seen a lot of people who have a similar reading taste as mine give this five stars, so I just hope I’ll love this book as much as they did.

6. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
Are we even surprised Schwab made another appearence on this list? I’m not anyway. This is like one of my most anticipated releases of 2020, if not my most anticipated release. I just can’t wait to get my hands on this book, devour it and love it. It’s as simple as that, because have you read the synopsis? IT SOUNDS SO GOOD. Also: the early reviews are all amazing, so it’ll be 5 stars, I just know it.

7. Night Film by Marisha Pessl
I read Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl not that long ago, and really liked that book. Unfortunately that was not a 5 star read for me. However, I think this book will be because the plot speaks more to me than Neverworld Wake did and once again a lot of people with similar reading taste as mine have given this 5 stars. I do have to say I hardly ever give a thriller 5 stars, so the fact that this book is on this list shows how high my expectations for this book are.

8. What Kind of Girl by Alyssa Sheinmel
I haven’t seen that many people read this book, so for once my expectations for a book are not based on other people’s ratings. I just used to love these type of books about a year or two ago, but haven’t read any in a while. When I came across this book, it really peaked my interest. Since I used to love this type of books and gave them all 5 stars, I think this one will be 5 stars as well, but we’ll see!

9. The Places I’ve Cried in Public by Holly Bourne
So, I’ve actually never read a Holly Bourne book before. Nevertheless, I’m so interested in this book. Just like with the previous book I haven’t heard that many people talk about it but it sounds like something I will love, or at least would have loved a year or two ago. But I still think I’ll love this because of the topics it deals with.

10. Lovely War by Julie Berry
I haven’t really read that many historical fictions, so I honestly am not sure why I think I’m going to love this book. I think it’s mainly because of the concept that the story is told by the gods which sounds so good. And one of the main characters is Belgian, so that makes me love the book even more, because I don’t think I’ve ever read an English book with a Belgian character in it. I don’t know, this book just sounds heartbreaking and the concept sounds really good, so I guess that’s why I think I’ll love this.

So those were my ten five star predictions. Which book on your TBR do you think will be a five star read for you?
