Hello lovely reader! In today’s blog post I will declare my Make Your Myth Taker Readathon TBR, my Detectathon TBR and one other book I plan on reading in June. Let me tell you it is an ambitious TBR, because I have exams in June (from the 2nd until the 19th) so I doubt I’ll get a lot of reading done in the first two weeks of June, but I have high hopes for the last weeks. Especially since I don’t think I’ll have to study a ton for my last exam.
Let’s start off with my Make Your Myht Taker Readathon. Since that is a readathon that takes place during the entirety of June. You can find the announcement & explanation of the readathon here. I wanted to go down one of the sorcerer’s paths and I ended up going for the Godess path. I also want to only read fantasy and/or retellings, since those are the genres Myth Take is about. Nevertheless here is my TBR!

1. Read a book with a non-human main character: A Curse So Dark And Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer.
I actually let my followers on Instagram pick this book for me, so I’m excited to read it, I hope it’ll be a quick read so I can perhaps read it in the first week or so of June.
2. Read a book with a foiled cover: We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal.
I once again let my followers pick this book for me.
3. Read the highest rated book on your TBR: The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo.
I just looked for the highest rated fantasy or retelling book on my Goodreads TBR and that was this book. I’m actually quite happy it’s this one because it’s not super long and it has drawings in it, so I think I can get through this quite quickly.
4. Randomise your TBR: Bone Crier’s Moon by Kathryn Purdie.
I’m one of Ashleigh’s (one of the hosts of this readathon) patrons, and we have a Patreon book club. So since I didn’t pick this book myself it counts for this prompt. Nevertheless I’m super excited to read it!
And then I actually only have one more book on my June TBR and that is Dwaas & Het Magische Hert by Clark Gillian. That book is a Dutch review copy I received, so I want to get to it in June.
And that’s it for my very ambitious June TBR… What will you be reading in June? Are you also participating in the Make Your Mythaker Readathon and/or the Detectathon?
Update 04/06: Mollie decided to postpone the Detactathon readathon and in light of recent events I want to educate myself more on racism. Please check this link to sign petitions and find places to donate money to for the BLM movement: https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/
I went to the library to pick up some non fiction on racism but almost all of those books were already borrowed by other people. So I ended up taking only one non fiction book home: Resisters by Lauren Sharkey and Manjit Thapp.
Because there was only one non fiction book left, I decided to also take some YA fiction written by POC authors home with me. Those books are: Internment by Samira Ahmed, American Street by Ibi Zoboi and A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi.
And then lastly I also have some audiobooks saved on Storytel that I’d like to get to this month: So You Want To Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo, The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta, Mensenrechten by Daan Bronkhorst and Eduard Nazarski and My Sister The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite.
Will I get to all of these books in June? I doubt it, but I will read them in the foreseable future for sure.
